About Us
Gio's Pizza & Spaghetti House was opened in 1984 by the Giavotella family. Founder Arthur Giavotella Sr. worked early every morning until he perfected his own Italian recipes that are still used today. His wife Rose worked and waited on tables until she was 79 yrs old.
Their family includes Mary Ann, Gail, Arthur, Johnny, Loraine and Mark, who all have had their hand in the family business at some time or another. They all are married with 2 children each.
Mark, the youngest, ran Gio's until 1990. Then, older sister Gail took over and still runs Gio's today with her son Travis Posey (LSU '02),
his wife Mia, and sister Loraine. Special thanks to Mikey and Josie Posey for putting up with their father's many late nights away from home. Love you both! To this day the Giavotella family continues to offer their customers and community some of the best Italian food in Metairie.
2020 was a tempestuous year for many in our community and around the world. We lost our beloved Rose Costa Giavotella after 94 amazing years. Moving forward, we are grateful. From our humble beginning in Gentilly after 'The World's Fair" in 1984, through the many decades, until now; our family is proud to continue the journey with you!
